Union official and politician. Brian Richard William Harradine was born in Quorn, South Australia in 1935. In 1959 Harradine moved to Tasmania where he served as Secretary-General of the Tasmanian Trades and Labor Council, 1964-1976, and thus was a member of the Australian Council of Trade Unions' Executive. Harradine was expelled from the Labor Party in 1975 and went on to become the independent member for Tasmania in the Senate, 1975-2005. He participated in many Parliamentary Committees cover...
